Are you looking at the *real* root cause?

In the holistic health world, you’ve probably heard many people talk about root-cause healing. Getting to the start of where all of the health issues snowballed. You’ve probably seen Instagram posts, podcasts, and health practitioners talk about the root cause of health issues but what is a real root cause?

First, what isn’t a root cause? I have had many clients who say a practitioner said
THIS was the reason for their health issues and yes, that is a reason but it ain’t often THE reason.

Here are a few examples:

  • Inflammation

  • Hormone Imbalance

  • Food allergies/sensitivities

  • Chemical sensitivities

  • Candida

  • Stress

When you ask: Why is ____ (insert your symptoms/issues here) happening?
and if you can trace it back another step, you haven’t found the root….

Ex. “why is inflammation happening?” There are 100’s of reasons why inflammation is present. So inflammation itself, is not a root cause. (we can still trace it back another step).

Often, by the time people get to the place where they do something about their health issues they have many symptoms, each seeming to stem from different causes. What we *almost* always find is there is an EMOTIONAL root to every problem. If we look back to the “I haven’t been the same since”, we discover a big life event, trauma, or childhood belief that happened at that time.

Root Cause Tracking From My Journey: rashes -> food sensitivities, inflammation, immune issues—> gut issues, stress -> nervous system dysregulation -> over-achieving, over-working, never taking breaks -> belief I am not enough, not safe to slow down -> trauma

Once I got to trauma, there wasn’t anywhere else to go…. That was the real root cause of the health issues I was experiencing.

Now, not EVERYONE’s root cause is trauma, but more often than not *almost always* we can pinpoint an emotional reason for someone’s health issues. This emotional piece weakens the body making it the perfect environment for pathogens to take over and dis-ease to develop.

Even if the REAL root cause is emotional, we still need a healthy lifestyle and diet, to lower inflammation, nourish the body, support gut health, improve sleep, rest, etc.

Alongside lifestyle and diet changes, we must also do inner work to shift our nervous systems, learn to feel safe, untangle old beliefs and reprogram healthy new ones!!

Real root-cause healing is looking at the WHOLE person to HEAL
