Before you jump into your new years resolutions
I’m already feeling it, the pressure to JUMP in with both feet. January is here, we must GO NOW. There’s a motor coming from my throat. A feeling of ‘we have to get going or we will be left behind.’ It doesn’t trust there will be time. It doesn’t see that things take time. It doesn’t know how to go slow.
I know this part of me well, it is a driver of many of my achievements AND much of my burnout. Going too hard, too fast without any direction. Putting all my eggs into one basket without stopping to consider if that’s somewhere I want to be… This part of me has great intentions - it wants me to succeed and be loved and is always protecting me from feeling like I am not enough.
This part of me doesn’t know that true change takes time and effort - Not fast and force.
Time: This doesn’t mean a long time rather, the SPACE to make it happen. End dates to your goals are great, but know what feels better? The space to take your time, let it feel easy and feel grounded each step of the way.
Effort: This doesn’t mean pedal to the metal. It means calm conscious effort. One step, then the next, then the next. One desire can be broken down into small 1% shifts to focus your attention on each day/week.
When we focus on giving ourselves the time and space while putting in a calm conscious effort…
We work WITH our nervous systems instead of overwhelming
We work from SELF not from a wounded part of us
We stay calm and present instead of getting burnt out
This is how we truly change, achieve our goals, and become the next best version of ourselves.
So, dear soul, What is your goal? What do you desire? Who do you want to be at this time next year? How do you want to feel? And how can you focus on the next best step while giving yourself lots of time to get there (& maybe enjoying the journey as much as the destination)
