Why am I so tired?

Every time I walk out the front door, I hear multiple people complaining about how tired they are. Honestly, I'm not surprised as a world the last few years have been extremely stressful… and chronic stress leads to chronic fatigue.

In long-term stress, we ask our stress response to pump on overdrive. We put a huge demand on the adrenals to pump out A LOT of cortisol to keep us going. There is a threshold where eventually, your adrenal glands can’t do this anymore. A point where you’ve asked too much, and they have nothing left to give.

Low adrenal function and low cortisol output cause us to be tired. ALL OF THE TIME.

Naturally, cortisol is meant to rise in the morning, waking us up and gearing us to get going. Throughout the day, cortisol output decreases and becomes lowest at night. This is when melatonin output increases, making us sleepy and ready for bed. (it’s a cool give-and-take cycle when these hormones are in balance)

If you don’t have enough cortisol because you’ve overused your adrenal glands, you won’t get that morning jolt and will feel pretty tired all day long.

Nervous System Regulation

I also would not be staying true to myself if I didn’t talk about Breathwork. Breathwork is essential for healing. The reason why I went into low adrenal function more than once in my life was because I wasn’t regulating my nervous system.
